Regular business meetings of the W. P. Morris Council are scheduled for the second Sunday of each month at 9:15 AM in the adult meeting room located on the lower level of St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 421 N. Washington Ave., Cookeville, Tennessee. This schedule provides the convenience of attendance for members who worship at either the 8:00 AM Mass or the 10:30 AM Mass.
Chartered in 1975, the Council was approved by the National Supreme Council and became known as the W. P. Morris Council, #6645, in honor of William Patrick Morris. William was one of the first Catholics in Putnam County and was instrumental in promoting and encouraging the growth of the Catholic faith in and around Cookeville.
Our first Grand Knight for the 1974-1975 year was Gilbert Gabriel.
Business discussed in monthly meetings then included plans and updates
on Church and Council activities, donations to local charities, and community work.
Early activities included an annual summer picnic, installation banquet,
bingo nights, casino night, wine and cheese party, parish dinners and
dances in Aquinas Hall, and the Tootsie Roll Drive fundraiser, among others.
